OCCUPATIONAL SPANISH  FOR REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS...

 Real Estate Agents and Brokers

Program Description 

This program is designed to provide non-Spanish-speaking real estate agents and brokers, and others involved in selling property and/or housing with functional skills in Spanish. The program utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish commands, questions, and phrases critical to working with potential buyers. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

 Goal

To prepare non-Spanish-speaking real estate agents and brokers, and others in involved in the sale of property or housing to use Spanish language skills by enhancing their ability to work professionally with their Spanish-speaking clients.

 Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to use Spanish to do some or all of the following: welcome and receive potential property buyers; interview clients to determine their needs; discuss basic financial issues; conduct follow-up interviews; determine the buyer’s price range; provide detailed property descriptions; prepare the buyer for property visits; set appointments; provide commentary about a property; and describe issues relative to closing a sale.

 Mortgage Loan Officers
 Program Description 

This program is designed to provide non-Spanish-speaking mortgage loan officers with functional skills in Spanish. The program utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish commands, questions, and phrases critical to working with Spanish- speaking loan 

applicants. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

 Goal

To prepare non-Spanish-speaking mortgage loan officers, and others in involved in the loan application process, to use Spanish language skills by enhancing their ability to work professionally with their Spanish-speaking clients.

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to use Spanish to do some or all of the following: welcome and receive potential loan applicants; discuss pre-approval issues; explain types of mortgages and terms of the loan; collect information about the property; determine the borrower’s employment, assets, and liabilities; handle refinancing; and assist the buyer during closing.

OCCUPATIONAL SPANISH FOR EDUCATORS...
...such as School Administrators, Teachers, and Support Staff

Program Description 

This is a comprehensive program designed to provide functional Spanish language skills for school personnel who have occasional contact with Spanish-speaking students and visitors. It also includes extensive training for non-Spanish-speaking classroom teachers who have Spanish-speaking children in their classroom. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

Goal

To train non-Spanish-speaking teachers, staff, and administrators in functional Spanish language skills that enable them to more effectively interact with Spanish-speaking students and visitors in various school situations.

Objectives

Upon completion, a non-teaching school participant, depending upon his/her job, will be able to use Spanish to: monitor and control non-classroom school settings; respond to medical emergencies; greet and give basic instructions to parents or visitors; engage in security measures; and identify students’ needs. Classroom teachers will be able to use Spanish for classroom and instructional management.

Program Description 

This program is designed to provide Spanish-speaking persons with functional skills in ENGLISH. The program utilizes phonetic encoding to address the most important English commands, questions, and phrases critical to living comfortably in the United States. No prior knowledge of English is necessary.

Goal

To prepare Spanish-speakers to use English language skills to live more comfortably in the United States.

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to use English to: introduce him or herself and others, ask basic introductory questions, obtain basic necessities, enroll a child in school, verify work commands and times, shop for daily needs, rent an apartment, visit a doctor, make an emergency phone call, express his or her preferences, conduct personal business in a bank or pharmacy, send items through the mail.
